Conscious Carnivore is an invitation to live a more authentically connected, mindful and nourished life.
It is about seeking to live meaningful, mindful lives in strong, nourished bodies.
It is about making choices and actions that are in integrity with who we want to be and how we want to show up in the world.
Health is a vehicle, not a destination. Having a healthy body and mind enables us to contribute and participate fully in the world and give our gifts to those around us.
Equally, as a carnivore meat-based dietary template is helping more and more people reverse "uncurable" diseases and chronic health conditions, it is also turning the conventional nutritional "wisdom" on its head. And on the other side, carnivore has worked when a ketogenic or plant-rich paleo/primal approach didn't or wasn't enough. It is the Ultimate Elimination Diet that allows us to create a blank slate and ultimately find exactly what works for us. Even the best quality home-grown organic spinach, or popular keto foods like coconut, nuts and seeds that can seem harmless and even have a halo of health around them, can be problematic. Elimination of high oxalate foods, FODMAPS and obscure food intolerances that can be preventing a state of homeostasis can finally allow things to "click" into place.
With stories like complete autoimmune remission, metabolic regulation, alleviation of clinical depression to "just" improved quality of life, carnivore has proven to become a valuable tool that can change lives, bodies and minds from the inside out.
This is not to say it has to become "THE" way to eat, and I wish to avoid any sort of dietary dogma. But in face of a dietary landscape that is plant-biased with more and more information skewed in the favor of a plant-based vegan diet for the health and environment, there has never been a greater need to provide the other side.

Absorb what is useful, discard what is not, and add what is uniquely your own.

I aim to take a holistic approach to health, healing and thriving. Chronic disease the number one cause of mortality worldwide, with the paradox of global rates of obesity and malnutrition existing and rising side by side. Parallel to this, the same lifestyle and system choices that lead to human health degradation are simultaneously leading to ecological devastation and pollution.
The conventional allopathic medical model that emerged to deal with acute conditions absolutely fails at treating the multi-faceted root causes of chronic illness, as I and millions of others have experienced. This mismatch causes unnecessary suffering and pain as we are using the wrong tools for the job, and end up in a downward spiral of treating the collateral damage consequences. Behind this lies a faulty paradigm and a reductionist way of thinking stemming from a disconnect to what is real, natural and whole. Let down by the conventional system, many of us are looking for alternatives to heal and thrive. It's time to stop the insanity. Just as you can't solve a problem with the same mind that created it, you can't solve a broken system in the same paradigm that perpetuates it. The lens of Conscious Carnivore operates in a different paradigm of holistic system regeneration and resilience, and is about empowering people with the right tools and mindset to be their own health CEOs. |
Consciousness is a psychic substance which is produced by the experience of opposites suffered not blindly but in living awareness. |
My concept of Conscious Carnivore is not about a dietary dogma, a prescriptive plan of eating and living that I proclaim to be morally superior to any other, nor about "bio-hacking" our way to a better life.
Conscious Carnivore refers to several dimensions of consciousness.
On an intra-personal dimension as an individual self as well as in an inter-personal and interactive dimension relating to our relationship with food, our environment, our ancestry, and beyond. The way I use this concept is not exclusive to "carnivore" humans eating a meat-based diet, or to the "conscious" food sourcing ethical aspect, but for anyone who wants to live a more mindful life in a nourished body and connect to their own ancestry & environment, and seeks integration of their animal self and soul.
Conscious Carnivore as a movement is not a narrowly defined niche, but an inclusive community passionate about the fundamentals of what can make us good animals and good souls!
Being vital, lean, strong and taking pleasure in nourishing your body while feeling aligned to a larger sense of well-being need not be mutually exclusive.
The 2 main pillars of Conscious Carnivore are Self-Care and Earth-Care, and the integration of both narratives into one coherent whole.
I view how we treat ourselves as an extension of how we treat the planet, and vice versa, how we treat the planet as a reflection of how we treat ourselves. Yet, there is often a divide between the field of health and the field of ecology and environmental science. To bridge this gap means to understand the inter-connectedness and inter-dependence of our biological system as embedded in the larger ecological systems. Beyond acknowledgement of this relation, I seek to create systems that are Regenerative and Resilient.

Healing the land, our bodies, and our souls and soil through development of the complementary opposites of regenerative practices and building anti-fragile resiliency.
The N=1 Adventure Begins!
Mindful living in nourished bodies.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
-Albert Einstein
The adventure of a Conscious Carnivore is defined by self-awareness, a mind for Self-care and Earth-care, an understanding rooted in the needs and principles of the physical body and earth, and a deep commitment to honour her inner nature as well as the Greater Nature that supports us.
And a desire to thrive in all aspects of life!
This is not about diet dogma, following a hot new diet trend, or optimising and bio-hacking to perfection, but about cultivating deep (re-)connection on many levels towards a life well-lived, a body well-nourished, and an earth well-cared for.
This way of eating is not rigidly prescriptive, but about understanding. It is about being mindful, intentional and specific with our choices and radically honest about what works optimally for us, but this need not be "strict".
Viewed as a tool, carnivore and a whole food animal-based dietary approach can guide us to our own idiosyncratic version of what is best for us. Our body is dynamic and our needs change over time and depending on circumstances, and so having a flexible open approach that takes into account this dynamic nature allows for continual progress and growth.
Starting with our genome, connecting and honouring what creates health, and acknowledging that our food, lifestyle choice and environment are information that talk with our genes in a way that either supports or hinders positive (epigenetic) expression.
THE MULTIPLE DIMENSIONS OF CONSCIOUS CARNIVORE
The Ecological Model of Conscious Carnivore
Self-Care and Earth-Care intersect throughout multiple layers.
A holistic perspective allows us to be grounded and rooted while also expansive and connected to a larger whole as an energised, vitalized human being in a nourished, strong body.
A holistic perspective allows us to be grounded and rooted while also expansive and connected to a larger whole as an energised, vitalized human being in a nourished, strong body.
Ground ZeroGround zero refers to an intrapersonal connection to our inner Self, our inner life and cultivating our consciousness, presence and self-awareness.
The idea & practice of actualizing our own mind-body potential is not the destination: it is the pre-requisite to be able to GIVE BACK as fully as we can.
|
Level 1.0Level 1.0 refers to what most of us focus on: our physical body & health. Directing our consciousness as body awareness and mindful living in relation to our lifestyle choices that build resilient strength, fitness and physical health.
|
Level 2.0Level 2.0 refers to the next layer of expanding the circle of awareness to the environment & humanity. Connecting to the larger whole & seeing the bi-directional impact of our choices on the broader system.

To do everything possible to create vibrant health can be in service of "Being Fit to Be Useful", it is not the destination but the vehicle - to be able to SHOW UP FULLY, for ourselves, for our family, for our community and the world at large and participate in the circulation of goodness, excellence, integrity, loving kindness and the contribution of our unique expression of our own life force.
Do not go gentle into that good night, Rage, Rage against the dying of the light."
- Dylan Thomas
Become a Wild Wellness Warrior!
It is time to OWN our own power and our sacred responsibility to show up as radiantly alive exemplars of what is possible as the positive expression of humanity.
A warrior is someone who is committed to mastering oneself at all levels, who develops the courage to do the right thing for yourself, others, and community.
-Mark Divine
Being fully human. Fully embodied. Fully Present.
Regaining our health and tapping into our potential requires acknowledging the reality of who we are and what made us human - good things happen when we start eating an ancestrally consistent, species appropriate diet, and implementing lifestyle factors and other integrated elements that align our current modern lives with our biological needs in a way that creates the natural conditions for health and thriving.
We need to demand health in a time where health is becoming the exception, and in a word where we are loosing our ancestral wisdom on what preserves and cultivates health in a holistic systems way. We need to ask the hard questions and examine the status quo of dysfunction and disconnect we have created and stop digging our heads in the sand and living in a culture of distraction. Being a Warrior of the Light is peacefully yet fiercely showing up and participating in life with grace and grit. What we have to loose is unnecessary suffering created by passive ignorance and disconnect. What we have to gain is our full humanity.
